Karel passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on October 30, 2015, at age 66. She was born on December 31,1948 and remained in Cincinnati for most of her life and attended the University of Cincinnati. Karel is survived by her daughter, Kara Critzer; Grandsons Brody Miller, Cale Critzer, Knox Critzer, and Henry Critzer; Brothers Wayne Jeppeson, Guy Mailly, Kevin Mailly, Brad Mailly, and Todd Mailly. 
She was a member of GAA (10-12), Y-Teens (10-12), Pep Club (10-12), Prom Committee (11), Graduation Committee (12), Peregrine Staff (11-12), FTA (10), Student Council (11), Safety Council (11), AFS (12), Senior Choir (12), Girl's Choir (11), served as Sergeant at Arms (10), Business Editor (12) and Swim Team Captain (10-12) and in the Production of "Bells are Ringing" (11)
